‘Tis the season of pies, cobblers, cakes, and other various goodies. If you love having a delicious dollop of whipped cream on your holiday treats, but hate wasting the leftover dessert, there’s good news: you can freeze it!
Heavy whipping cream freezes great, and who among us doesn’t love a healthy dose of it in their hot chocolate or morning coffee? This year, when you accidentally make a tub full of it for your pies and cakes, save the leftover whipped cream for something a little more delicate.
Whipped Cream Dollops
2 cups heavy whipping cream
2-3 tablespoons powdered sugar
1-2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Pour cold whipping cream into a mixing bowl. Using whisk attachment, whip on medium speed until cream begins to thicken and you see soft peaks form. Add in powdered sugar and vanilla. Continue mixing until well incorporated.
Take your whipped cream and spoon individual servings onto a parchment-lined baking sheet (or use a frosting bag with a tip attachment). Place in freezer for 2-3 hours or until completely frozen. Move to airtight container and store in freezer.
Not only are these perfect for topping off a steaming mug of hot cocoa, but they also work great as sugar and creamer in your morning coffee or tea!
For Something A Little Different…
Why not turn your frozen whipped cream dollops into fun shapes? For this nifty trick, spread out your whipped cream onto a baking sheet and freeze it. Use cookie cutters of your choice of shape to cut out hearts, stars, and other festive things. These are perfect for hot chocolate or coffee!
