National Strawberry Ice Cream Day

Did you know that every day of the year there is something to celebrate? And for good reason – today is National Strawberry Ice Cream Day! Don’t let vanilla and chocolate fool you. Strawberry ice cream has a long history dating back to the 1700’s. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were both fond of this childhood dessert. Maryland Gov. Thomas Bladen was known to serve it to his visiting guests and dignitaries! Even earlier, a version of strawberry ice cream dates back to 3000 BC. In China they would serve sweetened strawberry juices with snow or ice shavings.

It’s no surprise fruit has long been a popular choice for ice cream flavors. Strawberry ice cream is very refreshing and mouth-watering! It’s a creamy mixture of tart and sweet!
